2014 COPTHORNE HOTEL PLYMOUTH DEVON
October 10th thru October 12th 2014
Thanks to all that attended this year it was a huge success, I thought last years was great but our new found ex-shipmates took us all to a whole new level of fun. Again thanks to you all for making it one heck of a weekend to remember.

34 of us met in Plymouth and it was a great weekend. Friday night was just another great night of beer and communication and the conversation flowed as well as the beer.
Jim Halliwell and his wife Rita had travelled down on the Thursday and took the opportunity to visit with Robbie Laidlaw who lives in Plymouth but due to ill health could not join us for the weekend. Jim took Robbie his reunion shirt and he wore it proudly and I will post the photo’s on the website. Tom Denny also joined us this year traveling from the Netherlands where he now lives with his wife. Bob Raby and his wife joined us for the first time. Tot time and then a buffet dinner and some more alcohol and lots and lots of laughter saw this tired matelote off to bed about midnight.

Started with great full English breakfast and lots more conversation and swapping of information. Had our AGM and settled for Scarborough for the 2015 location. Discussed our plans for the day and then disbursed around noon and most of us headed for the Barbican and a brisk walk along the Hoe.
Shave Shower and Shampoo as they say and get ready for tot time the evening meal in our private dining room. Then the Hotel commitment the biggest sin of the weekend they ran out of John Smiths bitter and draught cider so I guess we could say we drank them out of draught beer but it was more than likely just bad planning on the hotels part. Food and service was great for the best part except for those who had the beef which they found was as tough as old boots I had the lamb hock which was great. The night went really well with lots of piss taking which we all still seem to be good at. Our raffles brought in over £500 which was great and covers our costs for website, tot time, port etc. Turned in again at some ungodly hour and slept like a baby.
Sunday October 12th, 2014
Sunday morning was a full English breakfast for me again and a debrief by everyone of last nights dinner etc and those booked only for two nights including your truly packed up and reluctantly headed for home around 11:00am.
Those that stayed Sunday night headed back down the Barbican and took a trip on the fanny boat up the dockyard and I will post those photo’s on the website.
I seemed to have rambled on a bit sorry for that but I hope those of you that never made it this year will join us in Scarborough for 2015 believe you me you will not be disappointed.
