2010 REUNION OCTOBER 15TH-17TH
SAVOY HOTEL BLACKPOOL
Thanks to all that attended this year it was again a great success and a weekend to remember.
Well we were just beside ourselves when 36 of us showed up in 2009 at the Royal Maritime Club (Home Club) in Pompey. This year at the Savoy Hotel in Blackpool, (bucket and spade optional), 46 of us made the trip to the seaside.

Friday night was a great night to renew friendships with many new faces attending for the first time. Plenty of lamp swinging and Kodak moments with nothing but smiles in the photographs.
The Irish Sea showed how unpredictable it can be and it was blowing a hooligan, I seem to remember we were doing plane guard I think for the Eagle in the Irish Sea one summer and it was so calm we had hands to bathe. Anyway everyone had a great time Friday night and alas
the bar closed at 3:00am and we all went off to bed.
Saturday October 16th, 2010
Started with great full English breakfast and lots more conversation and swapping of information etc. We held our Annual General meeting which I am happy to say was well attended by 44 of us with 2 members not arriving in Blackpool until later that day. After
breakfast a brisk walk down the Golden Mile and pick up a few rabbits before partaking in a fish and chip lunch and a stroll back to the hotel to work it all off and then back in the bar with
The dinner was a great success and the food was very good. Brian Coshal who put on a brilliant show for us all last year could not attend this year so we were left to entertain ourselves, and for the record Brian your job is safe for next year. A few of us shared some old
sea stories from our time on the Troubridge and Jeremy Sanders cleared up a few other questions we had been carrying around for years but to find out what they are you will need to attend in 2011. Smudge Smith ran our raffle of donated items and did a great job as did Charlie
Cooke who surprised us all with a 20 question quiz on the RN which went down really well.
After dinner we joined the ladies in the bar and laughed the night away again until 3:00am when they closed the bar on us again and it was off to bed.
Sunday October 17th, 2010
Sunday morning was a full English breakfast again and a debrief by everyone of last night’s dinner etc and quite a few packed up and reluctantly headed for home around 11:00am. Quite a few of us had decided to stay Sunday night and I finally took in the illuminations with another walk down the Golden Mile and lots of photo’ and video. They were playing Bingo in the bar that night when I got back and we all know Jack just can’t resist skylarking around, and it seems his better half is just a prone to skylarking, and we were all shushed quite a few times and I believe there was also a phantom “Bingo” which did not go over to well. As far as we know everyone made it home safely eventually.
Many thanks to Jim Halliwell for a great job as always setting up the meeting room with all the photos and for the sets of cufflinks they went over really well. Special thanks to Charlie Cooke for the reunion shirts and for jumping in to help. Great job by all in recruiting new member’s
last count we were up to 85.
The Savoy Hotel Blackpool did a fantastic job of making the weekend a great success and we thank them.
I seemed to have rambled on a bit sorry for that but I hope those of you that never made it to the 2007, 2008, 2009, or 2010 will join us in at the King Charles Hotel in Gillingham on October 21st and 22nd 2011 believe you me you will not be disappointed.
